According to John Gorton, Reed Exhibitions’ director, industrial group, the decision to postpone M&E SA – to a date yet to be determined was taken in close consultation with strategic partners and exhibitors.
“While disappointing to all involved, this decision has been received by those in this industry sector as professional and understandable in the current climate,” he said.
“Reed Exhibitions is in the business of putting on quality trade exhibitions, for which there is strong industry demand – as shown by our highly successful REEDMININGEVENTS portfolio, which includes AIMEX, QME, QREX, M&E NSW and GME,” said Gorton.
“While the impact of the global financial crisis on Australia’s mining industry has affected all three of our mining exhibitions in 2009, both the Queensland Resources Expo (QREX) in Rockhampton (July 21-23 ) and Mining & Energy New South Wales (M&E NSW) in Muswellbrook (September 22-24 ) have attracted very strong and fast-growing exhibitor and visitor support and are set to be very successful events.
“However, in the case of M&E SA, the impact of the current economic climate in slowing the scheduled progress of several major South Australian mining projects means that the timing of this event in October 2009 is no longer appropriate,” said Gorton.
“Nevertheless, the potential for Reed Exhibitions to stage a strong mining industry exhibition in South Australia definitely remains.
We will be carefully monitoring economic and mining industry developments in South Australia and expect to announce new dates for M&E SA in the not-too-distant future” he said.
“In the meantime, we encourage mining industry suppliers and buyers to take advantage of our forthcoming unique opportunities to do business face-to-face at QREX in Rockhampton in July or at M&E NSW in Muswellbrook in September.”
